Pat Sherwood

My first CrossFit workout was "Murph". I did it in my garage in August of 2005 in Virginia Beach, VA. I had recently finished 7 years as a Navy SEAL and considered myself to be in excellent shape. However, that very first CrossFit workout kicked my butt like nothing else ever had and I was instantly hooked. From that day forward CrossFit became my passion. I read everything I could on the subject, watched every video, opened an affiliate in VA, and even began helping CrossFit HQ run seminars on the east coast.

A lot has changed since the day I found CrossFit in 2005, but my passion for it has only grown. Whether you consider yourself an athlete or a couch potato the staff here at CrossFit Linchpin is ready to help you achieve your goals.

Chris Spealler

As a former college wrestler from a family of standout athletes, Spealler quickly became one of CrossFit’s great ambassadors, impressing and inspiring newcomers to the sport with his underdog spirit, unequaled work ethic, and warm personality. Through his career, he’s won a pair of Southwest Regional titles and has three Top 10 finishes at the Games (2007, 2008, 2010). One of Speal’s most inspiring achievements, though, was battling back from narrowly missing the cut for the 2013 Games. At 35, against tougher competition than ever before, he returned in 2014 to finish 2nd at Regionals and punch his ticket for a seventh time.

Miranda Oldroyd

I had been working as a personal trainer/group fitness instructor for 6 years when my husband and I found CrossFit. At first, it was just something we were doing with our own training due to sheer boredom and looking to break the routine. In less than 1 month we were 100% sold on the methodology, the movement, the intensity and had a strong desire to build a community to share it with. In 2008, we opened the first affiliate in Salt Lake City, UT and had more fun than we could have ever imagined coaching and training with strangers who quickly became family to us. In 2011, after having worked on the CrossFit Seminar Staff for over 2 years we got the opportunity to move to Northern California to be closer and work full time for CrossFit HQ. The seminars and competing have taken me ALL over the globe. What I have found is that the world is different wherever you go, but inside the box it is always the same.

It is my passion to help people to really "get it". To not just do the workouts because they are fun and they see results, but help them to understand intensity, the movements, and why it all works. I have found that when people have the "why" they won't ever look back. I have also become very grateful for CrossFit in my own personal life, as it saved me from what could have been a devastating outcome in a car accident a few years ago. That situation has helped me realize the importance for EVERYONE to be strong and resilient. CrossFit does that both physically and psychologically.

Eric O'Connor

Eric's interest in fitness began at an early age, initially through his experiences in a variety of sports. In college, he enjoyed a career as a Division One NCAA Wrestler while earning a Bachelor's degree in Fitness Management.

Following college, Eric continued to have a passion for helping other's improve their fitness. He became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. In 2006, soon after achieving that certification, he was introduced to CrossFit. Eric soon relinquished his CSCS certification after learning more, and really digging in to the CrossFit Methodology. In 2008, Eric took his CrossFit Level 1 Course and started coaching shortly thereafter. Eric now works nearly every weekend as a "Flowmaster" for the CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 Courses, as well as programming and coaching at CrossFit Park City.

Alongside Chris Spealler and Matt Chan, Eric helped to determine the content and develop the lectures for the CrossFit Competitors Course. He has competed in CrossFit competitions every year since 2008, placing as high as the top 15 in 2010 at the CrossFit Games. Eric has also assisted people around the world to improve their fitness through online programing and coaching, and he runs the CrossFit Park City Teens and Kids program.

Doug Zakaras

Doug found CrossFit in 2008 while training at his local community center, home at the time to CrossFit Park City. Shortly after visiting a newly constructed gym space and getting a chance to experience CrossFit first hand, he was hooked. In June 2009, he attended the Level One Trainer course and began the pursuit of coaching. He has been training, coaching, programming at CrossFit Park City since then, and continues the pursuit of fitness for himself and his clients. Doug recently founded MOVE Strength and Conditioning in collaboration with CrossFit Park City, designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for sports teams and groups.

In 2013, Doug completed the rigorous process of becoming a member of the CrossFit Headquarters Seminar Staff. After being selected and completing an internship process, he now travels throughout the world helping educate people in CrossFit’s methodologies teaching Level One and Level Two courses. Doug lives in Park City, UT with his wife Siri and dog Oliver. When not training or coaching, he enjoys being outside, biking, and skiing.
